Multiplying Decimals
When you multiply decimals you really just have to multiply the numbers like you normally would. When you have an answer then you have to do an extra step. You have to count how many digits are past the decimal in the problem.
Example:
14.25
x 3.2
2850
4275x
45600
Now I count how many digits are past the decimal in the problem. There are two digits past the decimal in the first line and one digit past the decimal on the second line. That's a total of 3 digits.
In my answer 45600 I then start at the end of the number and count over 3 spots and put a decimal in. My final answer is 45.600
